A Thriving Federal Way: Strong Economic Growth That Works for Everyone

Martin Moore believes that real economic growth means creating good-paying jobs, uplifting working families, and ensuring that opportunity reaches every corner of our city.

Building a resilient and prosperous community takes more than just talk—it takes collaboration, strategic investment, and a strong commitment to working people. That’s why Martin is committed to working closely with the Mayor’s office, organized labor, small business owners, and community partners to advance a bold, inclusive economic agenda.

With Sound Transit set to begin service in early 2026, Federal Way stands at a turning point. This expansion is more than a transportation milestone—it’s a once-in-a-generation opportunity to revitalize our downtown, activate growth near the South End station, and open the door to union jobs, local hiring, and long-term investments in workforce development.

Martin will push for:

  • Expanding apprenticeships and labor training programs that give our youth and job seekers a direct path to family-wage careers.

  • Hiring with a Federal Way Focus—prioritizing local workers and businesses for city-led projects to ensure tax dollars benefit our community.

  • Partnering with union contractors and trades, because Martin knows the value of a union wage, a solid pension, and the dignity of safe, skilled labor.

But to create real and equitable growth, we must also address what’s holding us back.

Martin will crack down on the underground economy—unlicensed, off-the-books operations that undercut wages, skirt safety laws, and rob our city and state of vital tax revenue. These practices hurt law-abiding workers, small business owners, and every taxpayer in Federal Way. Martin is committed to rooting them out and protecting fair, legal commerce.

And it’s time for better coordination between the City and the Chamber of Commerce. Martin believes in developing a true economic development partnership that shares data, identifies business needs, and helps align city resources to support entrepreneurs and small businesses looking to grow and thrive here in Federal Way.

By promoting business-friendly policies with labor at the table, investing in workforce training, and holding bad actors accountable, Martin Moore will lead the charge in making Federal Way a place where workers are respected, families can thrive, and the local economy truly works for everyone.
