Trust in local government starts with transparency—and that means making sure the public isn’t just informed, but truly included in the decision-making process.
As a former Councilmember, I fought to make City Hall more open, accessible, and accountable to the people of Federal Way. I’m proud to have led several key initiatives that gave residents greater insight into how their city operates:

I added more public speaking opportunities before the Council voted on business items, giving residents a real voice before major decisions were made—not after.

I championed the creation of an online City Budget Dashboard, a tool that gave the public direct access to how taxpayer dollars were being spent—bringing clarity to one of the most complex areas of local government.

I also pushed for all City Council committee meetings to be televised, because the real work of policy happens in committees—and the public deserves to see that process unfold in real time.
But there’s more to do.
With today’s technology and innovation, the sky is the limit when it comes to expanding transparency. In my next term, I will continue to pursue bold, practical ways to make City Hall more open and accountable—from digital tools that improve access to information, to new platforms and partnerships that give residents real-time opportunities to engage and be heard. A stronger, more trustworthy government begins with openness—and that’s exactly what I’ll continue to fight for.
